Join us July 1 from 5-7 pm for the Opening of Rustic Scenes, paintings by Carol Wade, with an artist talk beginning at 5:45.
Come and see a collection of country, bucolic scenes along with some playful, whimsy acrylic paintings by Carol Wade.
Carol recently relocated to the area from Southern Maryland. Her inspiration for these paintings came from her surroundings of farmland and water scenes along the Chesapeake. Always taking photographs, she paints from those images in her studio creating her own interpretations.
“My painting style is impressionistic, contemporary, and loose. I experiment with different styles. I like to show sponteneity. My goal is not realism; it is expression and interpretation with good composition. I typically use acrylic paint and at times mixed media, such as glued paper along with paint.”
She is a graduate of Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore. During her 40 years as a graphic designer, she also created illustrations for theatre posters. “My work shows a bridge between graphic design, illustration, and painting.
Since retiring as the graphic designer at the College of Southern Maryland 11 years ago, Carol has returned her focus to her first love, painting. She has been a member of two Maryland galleries, participated at the Solomons Plein Air Festival, Artists in Action and the Ebb and Flow show at the Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center.
Carol is an award winning artist who is also represented in Chestertown, Maryland at Les Poisson Gallery.
