About MAC
Mission
Located in Media, PA, the mission of the Media Arts Council is to actively support local artists and integrate a wide range of arts into the life of the entire community. MAC achieves this mission by providing professional artists with opportunities to exhibit, sell, and/or perform, infusing Media with public art installations, providing arts education classes, and offering community arts events.
History
Since 2006, MAC has been a leader in the Delaware County arts scene - programming everything from an art gallery to an annual international film festival, and a multitude of live performances that include professional musicians, spoken word, and protest art. Our arts education programs show students a variety of career paths in the arts. We infuse the Borough of Media with public art installations and we host a summer-long outdoor block party music festival. MAC makes a cultured life for those who live, work, and play in this region.
MAC began as an informal gathering of residents and artists identifying opportunities and challenges facing artists, art supporters, and the community at large. This group evolved into the Board of Directors, which moved to incorporate as a 501(c)(3). MAC hired its first paid staff person in 2010.
